Spotify Testing Discounted ‘Premium Duo’ Subscription for Two

Spotify is testing a new “Premium Duo” subscription plan in which it is offering two Spotify Premium membership at a discounted price of €12.49/month. That’s down from the usual price of €9.99 each subscriber has to pay on a monthly basis.

Spotify is currently testing this plan in Colombia, Chile, Denmark, Ireland, and Poland. Spotify already offers a Family subscription in which it allows up to six family members to share the same subscription for €14.99/month. However, that requires all family members to live at the same address.

With its new Premium Duo plan, Spotify is targeting couples and roommates and also requires them to live at the same address. It is even asking the address of both subscribers during the sign-up process. The music streaming service has also rolled out a new Duo Mix playlist that is generated on the basis of the listening habits of both subscribers. This playlist will be updated weekly by Spotify and it will offer two different tempo versions: Calm and Upbeat.

The ‘duo’ subscribers can also share their custom playlists with each other at the tap of a button.

There’s no word from Spotify if it plans on expanding Spotify Duo to more markets of the world. If you live in any of the five markets mentioned above where Spotify is testing Duo, you can sign up for it from here.
