iPad mini 5 Will Feature Same Design as iPad mini 4

Citing accessory makers, Mac Otakara says that the upcoming iPad mini 5 will resemble the iPad mini 4. The new mini tablet will retain the same design and dimensions like its predecessor in a bid to keep its price point down.

Apple will also continue to include a 3.5mm jack, Lightning connector, and Touch ID on the device. The only change externally will be moving the rear microphone to the center just like it did with the 6th gen. iPad. Apple will solely focus on internal upgrades with the iPad mini 5. While unclear, the iPad mini 5 will likely come with Apple’s A10 chip and not the more powerful A10X chip found inside the 2017 iPad Pro.

The modest internal upgrades and no major design upgrades will allow Apple to price the iPad mini 5 lower than $329 — the price at which it sells the 6th gen. 9.7-inch iPad. It is, however, unclear as to what price point the company is targetting with the iPad mini 5, with some rumors suggesting a $249 price tag. There are rumors of the mini tablet supporting Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil but that looks dicey in my opinion.

Alongside the iPad mini 5, Apple is expected to also unveil a new 7th gen. iPad which is expected to come with slimmer bezels, a slightly bigger 10-inch display, and faster internals. The devices are expected to be unveiled in March.
