Team unc0ver has been working exceptionally hard in the past several weeks to fully jailbreak iOS 12, and while co-creator Sam Bingner teased a functional Cydia app on iOS 12 just this week, he also noted that there was still a lot of work to be done before it’d be ready for the general public.

Fortunately, hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd dropped a bombshell Saturday morning when he Tweeted that he had successfully gotten jailbreak tweaks to run with the help of Cydia Substrate on iOS 12:

In a follow-up Tweet, Pwn20wnd noted that he’s tempted to release what he currently has in the form of a public beta – presumably as a minor revision to the existing unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release, but a timeframe for such a release has yet to be determined.

It’s worth noting that Pwn20wnd added partial support for tihmstar’s v3ntex exploit just yesterday, enabling iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 users to jailbreak iOS 12. Unfortunately, it didn’t include Cydia or Cydia Substrate, as they weren’t yet ready for production.

It remains to be seen when unc0ver will support all iOS 12 devices in addition to Cydia and Cydia Substrate, but given all the milestones achieved thus far, it seems we’re just around the corner from a full-fledged iOS 12 jailbreak that will make modding your pwned handset a breeze.
