Picaso Lab, a US-based maker of premium Napa leather sleeves for all your Apple gear, today launched a pair of new color options for their incredibly sturdy and stylish iPad Pro sleeve.
Originally released in December 2018 in black with red accents, the leather tote is now available in the new brown/gray and brown/red colorways joining the existing black/red option, giving consumers three color choices in total to pick from at checkout. As I wrote in my review, this beautiful hand-made case lets you pack your tablet with confidence.
The stitching also hardens the edges, providing better protection for your tablet. Unlike Apple-branded iPad cases, this one’s open on the long side which makes inserting your tablet easier. You also have a practical snap-on closure instead of a classic zipper, with a press-stud on both sides allowing you to take it off easily.
The inside of the lip is two inches of a red-colored leather, followed by a nice felt material that protects the tablet’s aluminum finish from those ugly scratches and dents. The reinforced inside edges are an especially thoughtful addition that give your iPad Pro added protection.
These sleeves are hand-crafted by a father and son in California out of premium Napa leather and polyester thread. Thanks to Picaso Lab’s hand-made process, the outer edge is treated, glued, sewn, painted, then cured for 48 hours before the case goes in the mail to its owner.
The time-consuming process makes the edges of the case five times more rigid when the device is inserted, allowing it to absorb drops and bumps no other sleeve can.
The company designed these sleeves to accommodate either just your iPad Pro or the tablet along with your Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard Folio.
As I mentioned, Picaso makes leather cases for other Apple products, like notebooks. In fact, back in February the company released a version of its Classic leather sleeve for the new Retina-enabled MacBook Air models released in 2018.
Here’s our video review of Picaso’s MacBook sleeves.
Thanks to new tooling, Picaso was able to get the tightest fit possible, giving your notebook the ultimate protection. Like with the iPad sleeves, the edges of these notebook cases are are treated for strength using an in-house technique, dubbed Solid Edge.
The refreshed notebook cases, are now available in four different colorways, including black/red, brown, brown/red and tan, with prices starting at $96 for the MacBook Air version and going up to $119 for the 15-inch MacBook Pro sleeve.
Because Picaso Lab is friends with iDownloadBlog, they’re offering a notable fifteen precent discount to our readers on any purchase with the coupon code idownload15 at checkout.
It’s especially great that all Picaso sleeves lack any branding and include the laser engravings option allowing you to make the case yours with a custom message up to 15 characters long.
The leather sleeve for the 11-inch iPad Pro retails for $92, or $108 for the 12.9-inch edition.
