Later this year, Apple is going to launch Apple TV+, a new home for a variety of new streaming content, from television series to high-profile films. The latest addition to that lineup has just been announced at this year’s E3 on stage during Ubisoft’s press conference. The new series is called Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet.
Rob McElhenney (Always Sunny In Philadelphia) is starring in the new show (via Polygon), which will be a sitcom that takes a funny look at video game development, as developers bring a video game’s first expansion, Raven’s Banquet, to market. It’s being brought to Apple TV+ by Ubisoft Film and Television, and this is their first production to date. Along with McElhenney, the new series is also being brought to life by Charlie Day (Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Pacific Rim) and Megan Ganz (Community, Modern Family).
McElhenney will be playing the main character in this “mocumentary”, Ian Grimm. McElhenney said, on stage, that Grimm has the “ego the size of a city buys”, which the trailer for the new series definitely makes very clear. The show will also star F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus, Homeland), David Hornsby (Always Sunny In Philadelphia), Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris), Danny Pudi (Community), Jessie Ennis (Better Caul Saul), and others.
Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet is said to be part of Apple TV+’s first wave of planned programming, which means it should launch this fall once the streaming service goes live. However, neither McElhenney nor Ubisoft itself would give any specific release dates for the upcoming series.
At the time of publication, the official Apple TV YouTube channel hasn’t uploaded the trailer for the new series. You can watch McElhenney’s announcement below, though, courtesy of Kotaku‘s YouTube channel.
