FaceTime video calls automatically use the front view camera. Here’s how to flip the camera from front to rear view during a FaceTime call. It’s helpful for showing the other person a quick house tour, the odd sleeping position your cat is in, or anything that’s not directly next to you.

Your iPhone needs to be updated to iOS 12.1.1 or later.

  • During the FaceTime call, tap anywhere on the screen. A menu bar will slide up from the bottom. Tap the flip icon.

  • Now the camera has flipped from the front to the back lense and I can show my friend this nice lamp.

To go back to front-facing, just tap the flip icon again.
