Check AirPods Battery Featured

AirPods are magical devices which last for 5 hours every charge. And the charging case extends it to 25 hours. When the AirPods battery is low, you’ll hear a little sound effect. But what if you want to monitor the AirPods battery life at any given moment. There are a couple of ways to do that. You’ll want to keep tabs on battery life especially if your AirPods battery is deteriorating. Here’s how to check AirPods battery life on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Check AirPods Battery Life on iPhone

Just Ask Your AirPods

Check AirPods Battery Life Siri

If you’re already wearing your AirPods, just double-tap on the AirPods to bring up Siri (if you’re using 2nd Gen AirPods, you can just say Hey Siri) and ask “what’s the battery level” or “how much battery is left”. It will first read out the battery percentage on the iPhone and then on AirPods. You can be direct as well. Just ask “how much battery is left in AirPods for a direct answer”.

Flick Open the AirPods Case

To find out the battery life of the AirPods and case, the fastest way to do it is by flicking open the case next to your iPhone when it is unlocked. A little card will show up, telling you the exact battery life of both AirPods and the case and whether they are charging.

The issue is that this only works when the AirPods are inside the case. To find out AirPods battery life at any given time on your iPhone, follow the next tip.

Enable the Batteries Widget on iPhone

Check AirPods Battery Life Widget

The Batteries widget is meant to serve as a one-stop shop for battery stats for all of your connected Apple devices. It works for Apple Watch, AirPods and Beats X devices.

To enable it, swipe over to the widgets area on your Home screen, go to the bottom of the page and tap on Edit. Then tap on the green + button next to Batteries to add it. Use the handle button to rearrange it. Tap on Done to go back.

Now, as long as the AirPods are connected, you’ll see the battery percentage there. Usually, it will only show the battery stats for the AirPods. If you flick open the case while looking at the Batteries widget, it will show the case’s battery life as well.

AirPods Tips and Tricks for iPhone Users 5

As long as all three devices – iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods – are connected to the same iCloud account and are all active, it’s quite easy to view the AirPods battery life right from your wrist.

As we’ve discussed in our AirPods tips and tricks article, go to the watch face and swipe up to reveal the Control Center. If you’re using watchOS 5 and above, you can actually hold a bit on the bottom edge of the screen and swipe up to access Control Center from anywhere in the OS.

Then tap on the Battery Percentage control. Below the battery percentage of your Apple Watch, you’ll see the battery life of your AirPods. And this even shows up if your AirPods are paired with your iPhone and not directly with your Apple Watch.
