Those who know me best also know that I have a soft spot for jailbreak tweaks that give my iPhone simple haptic feedback capabilities. For that same reason, I’m excited to share the news about a free release called HapticVolume by iOS developer MayBeMe.

In a nutshell, HapticVolume compels your iPhone to exhibit a tidbit of haptic feedback whenever you depress either of the volume adjustment buttons on the side of your device.

HapticVolume is somewhat subtle, and because I don’t adjust my device’s volume level very often unless I’m watching videos or listening to music, I wouldn’t expect to see very much battery drain with regular use.

From what we can tell, HapticVolume is intended to be used with devices that come equipped with Apple’s Taptic Engine. It doesn’t seem to work as well, if at all, on older devices that only sport a traditional vibrator motor instead.

HapticVolume doesn’t come with any options to configure at the time of this writing, but in the future, we’d really like to see more customization options, such as adjusting the vibration strength, duration, and toggling the tweak on or off on demand.

If HapticVolume sounds like something that you’d enjoy using, then you can download it for free from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak supports all jailbroken devices running iOS 11 and 12.
