Concept Envisions 2019 iPhone 11 With Triple Cameras, New Colors, More

In around five months from now, Apple will be unveiling its 2019 iPhone lineup. Leaks have already given us a good idea of what to expect and how the phones will look. Turning those leaks into a concept video, YouTuber ConceptsiPhone has shared an iPhone 11 trailer.

Based on the leaked CAD renders, the concept shows the iPhone 11 with triple cameras at the rear, the same front design as the iPhone XS, and more. The designer also envisions iOS 13 with Dark mode which is something that Apple is expected to finally add to the OS.

The new colors of the iPhone 11 as envisioned in the renders look cool, though as of now, it is unclear if Apple will indeed launch the 2019 iPhone 11 lineup with a fresh set of colors or not. Rumors do point to Apple switching to a frosted rear glass panel but that’s about it.

Sadly, while the concept definitely looks slick, it has failed to get me excited about the iPhone 11. From a design standpoint, the iPhone 11 — at least as envisioned in the concept video — just does not have anything new that will make it stand out from the crowd. In fact, except for the rear camera layout, there’s really not much new here and that’s a shame.

Our Take

With Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus churning out phones with a new design language every year or two, its high time that Apple also ends up following on their footsteps. The company used to do this until the iPhone 5s but started using the same design language across three generations of iPhones starting with the iPhone 6 which is just disappointing.
