Apps of the week

In this week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup we have a new, minimalist weather client, a digital swear jar and an app for sharing what you’re listening to in Apple Music. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.

Breeze Weather

If you’re getting bored with the current corp of weather apps, you may want to check out Breeze Weather. I think it hits the sweet spot of having a beautiful, minimalist interface and offering need-to-know information. Plus it’s powered by Dark Sky, so you know the actual weather data will be super accurate. Choose between the relaxing Wine theme or the vibrant Electric theme.

Sinup

Sinup is like a digital swear jar that turns your bad deeds into good deeds. The app matches your regret with a charitable giving cause, so that when you mess up, you can ‘pay’ for it by donating money. Say a curse word you’re trying to avoid? Cheat on your diet? Watch too much Netflix? Donate using Sinup and feel better about it. It supports Apple Pay, offers tax receipts for write-offs, and there’s a social aspect to it so you can make this a group thing. The app doesn’t take any cut of the donations and partners with real non-profit orgs.

NoiseHub

If you’re looking for something more light-hearted to try this weekend, check out NoiseHub. It’s a fun little app that allows you to share what you are listening to on Apple Music with your friends, family and followers. Simply play a song in Apple’s Music app and the track will auto-populate in NoiseHub. Then you pick one of three colors based on the cover art, select your graphic of choice and then it’s ready to share to Instagram Stories, Twitter, or even the Messages app.

OCO

Immerse yourself in the beautiful world of OCO, a simple puzzler-platformer with one-touch controls. There are 135 unique levels with varying degrees of difficulty, and a built-in editor so you can design your own levels and challenge your friends to complete them. In fact there’s an entire online community with hundreds of user-generated levels. Other features include beautiful hand-crafted design, daily challenges, and more.

Idle Rocket

Idle Rocket is a new type of game about spacecraft that combines elements from both idle and casual genres. There are 8 planets to explore, 10 rockets to unlock and the gameplay is one-touch and very addicting. Other features include beautiful graphics, smooth motion and physics, and a leaderboard so you can compete against your friends.
