Apple’s New Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR Are Launching in September This Year

When Apple previewed the 2019 Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR at WWDC 2019 earlier this month, it promised a launch later this fall. Most assumed that the new pro hardware from the company would launch in the last quarter of the year as that’s the time Apple usually launches new hardware. However, the company has updated its website to reflect that the new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR will launch in September this year.

The new “Coming September” information only shows up on Apple’s US website though.

This means that we will likely see Apple talk more about the new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR at its iPhone event in September. Apple usually keeps the focus to iPhones and Apple Watch at its September event. While that trend will likely continue this year as well, the new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR will possibly go on sale after the event or within weeks of the event.

The new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR are meant for pro users which is evident from their high price tags. The new Mac Pro starts at $5,999 but the top-end variant with 28-core Intel Xeon processor, 1.5TB RAM, 4TB storage, and AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo is estimated to cost upwards of $30,000. The Pro Display XDR features a 6K resolution 32-inch display with a peak brightness of 1600 nits and true 10-bit color support. The monitor comes in two flavors, with the base variant coming in at $4,999. However, the Pro Display does not come bundled with a stand which costs another $999 and that has made Apple the butt of many internet jokes.
