Apple Watch Series 4 Heart Rate

Eight months after Apple first launched the Apple Watch Series 4 with ECG capabilities, the company seems to have received the necessary clearance from Health Canada to bring the feature to Canadian Apple Watch owners.

The Health Canada website shows Apple as having two approved active licenses — 102864 for the ECG app and 102866 for irregular rhythm notification feature.

When Apple first launched the Apple Watch Series 4 with ECG last year, the feature was only available for customers in the United States. With the watchOS 5.2 update in March, Apple further expanded the ECG functionality to 19 more countries outside of the US including Hong Kong, India, Spain, France, and others.

Now, with Apple receiving the necessary approval from Health Canada, it is likely that we will see the company bring the ECG feature to Canadian Apple Watch Series 4 owners with the final release of watchOS 5.3. If not, then it is possible we will hear Apple talk more about ECG app on the Apple Watch at WWDC 2019 early next month.

The ECG feature on Apple Watch Series 4 has turned out to be incredibly handy. Reports of the feature saving the life of Apple Watch Series 4 owners started popping up days after the feature went live in the US. Since then, we have periodically seen news of the Apple Watch Series 4 detecting atrial fibrillation and saving the life of its user.
