Following weeks of developer betas, Apple is finally releasing the next updates for the Apple TV, Macs to the public.
Apple today officially released tvOS 12.2 and macOS Mojave 10.14.4. The update to tvOS is minor in scale, and focuses primarily on behind-the-scenes tweaks and improvements. Apple is aiming to improve the overall experience, while squashing any bugs lingering in the background. There weren’t any major new additions added for the end user with these update. macOS Mojave 10.14.4, meanwhile, welcomes the addition of Apple News+, which Apple officially announced this week.
The latest tvOS update is designed for the fourth- and fifth-generation set-top box. For those who have already turned on Automatic Updates, the software will download and install in the background. For owners who haven’t turned on this feature, simply head into Settings –> System –> Software Updates and follow the onscreen instructions to get the newest software downloaded and installed.
To update to macOS Mojave 10.14.4, Mac owners simply need to open System Preferences –> Software Updates and follow the onscreen instructions. Automatic Updates can also download and install the new software automatically.
The new software is available now for both the newest Apple TV set-top boxes and the Apple Watch.
Looking ahead, Apple has already announced the scheduled dates for this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference for June 3 through June 7. We will likely see what Apple has been working on for both tvOS and watchOS on the opening day of WWDC, during the company’s keynote speech. That’s when we will see the big new features Apple is planning to launch this year for these devices.
