Following Apple Pay’s recent arrival in European countries Hungary and Luxembourg, as well as its launch on the New York City subway, the mobile payment service is now available to customers in The Netherlands, a 17 million people country, with Dutch bank ING.

According to the local Apple Pay micro-site, ING bank customers can now open the Wallet app or Apple Pay settings to add their Maestro debit cards in order to make purchases with their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Mac in apps, stores and on websites. Launch partners include online and high street retailers like Adidas, ALDI, Amac, ARKET, BCC, Burger King, Capi, cool blue, COS, Decathlon, Douglas, H&M, Jumbo, Lidl, McDonalds, Starbucks and others.

iOS 11.2 or later is required for the Apple-branded contactless payment feature. The digital payment system is set to expand to more than a dozen Eastern European countries, including Bulgaria , Slovenia, Slovakia and Croatia.

Apple Pay countries are listed on Apple’s iOS Feature Availability page.

As of recently, Apple Pay can be used to cover purchases made in iTunes and App Stores. Apple Pay will be updated with the ability to read specially-encoded NFC tags printed on product stickers. When it arrives later this year, that feature will enable customers to trigger a purchase by tapping a tag without having to download any special app.
