After bringing Apple Music to Amazon Echo speakers last year, Apple is now expanding support to include Fire TVs as well. This means that Fire TV owners can now use Apple Music on their streaming stick. They can even ask Alexa to play songs from Apple Music.

If you have already set up Apple Music on your Echo speaker, you will automatically get the Apple Music integration on your Fire TV as well. If not, just enable the Apple Music skill from the Alexa app on your phone to enjoy Apple Music on your Fire TV.

Apple and Amazon are also expanding Apple Music support for Echo speakers to international markets. So far, the integration was only available to customers in the United States but in the coming weeks, it will be expanded to include users in the United Kingdom as well. For now, Apple Music on Fire TV will be limited to customers in the United States.

While Apple Music is available on Echo speakers, Apple itself only allows Apple Music on the HomePod, its Siri-powered smart speaker.

Our Take

I doubt that many people are going to find Apple Music integration in Fire TV stick as useful as they found its integration in Echo speakers. Nonetheless, the move shows that Apple is working on opening its services to third-party platforms to reach as many customers as possible. This should not only help improve the overall usability of its services and customer satisfaction but a platform-agnostic approach will allow more non-iPhone users to sign up for its services as well.
