Apple has added prominent obstetrician, Dr. Christine Curry, to its growing health team, reports CNBC. Citing sources familiar with the hiring, the outlet says the company hopes Curry can bolster its efforts in women’s health.
Before landing at Apple, Curry was with healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente. She also worked at a women’s prison facility in Massachusetts and headed a Zika virus response unit at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Curry is expected to help Apple in areas like fertility and pregnancy tracking, clinical research diversity, and more. In a recent interview with CNBC’s Jim Cramer, CEO Tim Cook said health would be Apple’s greatest contribution to mankind.
