Originally launched in March 2011, Apple has added the iPad 2 to its vintage and obsolete products list. The company automatically adds any products to the list which have not been produced for over 5 years but less than 7 years.

Vintage products are no longer eligible for any kind of repair or service from Apple. This, however, excludes Apple products sold in Turkey and the state of California where regional laws force Apple to support its products for a longer period of time.

Apple will mark the iPad 2 as obsolete once it has been seven years since the product was discontinued. At that point, hardware service for the iPad 2 or any other obsolete product will be discontinued by Apple without any exception.

The iPad 2 launched with a 9.7-inch display, A5 chipset running at 1GHz, 0.3MP front camera, 0.7MP back camera, and 512MB RAM. Back then, Apple’s iPad lineup was simple which is in stark contrast to its current lineup which consists of the 7.9-inch iPad mini 5, 9.7-inch iPad, 10.5-inch iPad Air, and 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
