AirPods 2 Will Be Available in Black and Feature New Surface Coating
Another day, another AirPods rumor. This time around, Economic Daily News claims that the AirPods 2 will ship with a new coating on its surface for improved grip and a wireless charging case. Apple will also offer AirPods 2 in black this time around.
The report claims that Apple’s vendor Inventec has already started manufacturing the new AirPods. The earbuds were supposed to go up for sale last year itself alongside AirPower. However, due to the engineering difficulties that Apple faced with AirPower, it could not get the wireless charger ready in time and postponed the launch of AirPods 2 as well. With all engineering issues behind it though, the AirPower has also reportedly entered into mass production and Apple is now preparing itself to ship them both.
The report matches perfectly to a previous rumor from earlier this week. While that rumor also claimed that AirPods 2 will feature some new health sensors, that always looked dubious. Nonetheless, the claims made in this report perfectly match up with that one.
Given the recent flurry of leaks surrounding the AirPods 2, it is clear that Apple is working behind the scenes on launching them soon. It is possible that we will see the company unveil AirPods 2 and AirPower on March 25 when it is rumored to hold a media event to announce its streaming service platform.
Another report did claim that Apple will put the AirPower and AirPods 2 up for pre-order on March 22 and that they will hit the retail stores on March 29. If true, the company could simply launch these products via a simple press release.
