Apple has aired a new 30-second promotional video for the latest iPhones. Similar to other photography-focused commercials for its new smartphones, this advertisement is all about Apple’s new imaging capability, called Depth Control.
“Depth Control on iPhone XS and iPhone XR allows you to adjust the depth of field to get the perfect amount of blur,” Apple notes. “Turning any background into a beautiful backdrop.”
And here it is.
As we explained, the new iPhones sport a more sophisticated background blur than earlier models, especially in terms of advanced depth segmentation in Portrait mode providing different levels of blur (depending on depth data) for a more realistic bokeh effect.
And with Depth Control, iPhone photographers are able to adjust the depth of field either in a real-time preview within the Camera app or in Photos, after the image has been taken.
