Robocalls and Spam calls are on the rise and apparently, very little is being done to combat the menace. Apple has decided to take the issue head-on with the latest version of the operating system. iOS 13 is capable of sending incoming calls to voicemail it is from some unknown number. Let us take a closer look at how this feature actually works.

Apple said in WWDC Keynote that “iOS uses SIRI intelligence to allow calls to ring your phone from numbers in Contacts, mail, and Messages. All other calls are automatically sent to voicemail.” When the Silence unknown caller is enabled in Settings, the iOS will search for the number in your email and texts. If the number is not found, the call is automatically routed to voicemail. In other words, someone who has been emailing you can get through, while complete strangers will be diverted to voicemail.

FCC grants permission for wireless carriers to block robocalls

The U.S based iPhone users will probably receive fewer robocalls as the Federal Communications Commission voted to allow wireless carriers to block it. Americans received a staggering 3.4 billion robocalls in a single month. Thankfully, the FCC has changed the definition of auto-dialers to suit the current scenario and allow carriers to take action against Robocallers.
