Since the advent of iPad Pro, Apple has been branding the device as an ultraportable laptop. At the WWDC, Apple surprised us with the iPad OS. The new operating system is built upon iOS 13 and aims at making better use of the iPad’s larger screen.

Floating QuickPath Keyboard

Apple seems to have done a decent job when it comes to iPad OS. They have added new features like the ability for the keyboard to float around the display. QuickPath is yet another useful feature that lets you swipe across the board to type. On the iPad OS, the QuickPath can float around. This is especially useful when you are using more than one app and the large keyboard is blocking a good chunk of your screen real estate.

The floating QuickType keyboard can be used by pinching on the keyboard and shrinking it. Once shrunk the keyboard is much more manageable and can be placed anywhere on the screen.

Multiple language support

As we are already aware QuickType lets us swipe instead of tapping on a single letter. This is very useful as users can type without having to remove your finger. The best part is that you can use both, tapping and swiping without having to enable/disable the feature. Apple has also added multiple language support including English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese.

Dictation users get Automatic Language Selection

Apple’s automatic language selection will automatically select the language while users are conversing. This feature works by detecting if both the users have enabled separate languages on their iPads.

Apple has also announced that alternate options will appear while using predictive text. In fact, QuickType will populate as much as four alternative words. Users can choose the most appropriate one.

Better Text Editing options

It is good to see that Apple has is offering netter text editing options on the iPad OS. Now it is easier and faster to point with more precision and speed. You can also select text with a swipe while using the new gestures for cut, copy, paste and undo.
