As you listen to music on your iOS device, you can move forward and back between tracks with the designated buttons in the Now Playing widget. But if your handset is in your pocket, then you can’t switch between tracks without first pulling the device out of your pocket.
JumpSkip is a new free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Karimo299 that lets you move forward and back between music tracks without taking your device out of your pocket; instead, you can articulate specific volume button sequences to accomplish this task.
JumpSkip doesn’t come with any options to configure because, well, it really doesn’t need any. Upon installing the tweak, you’ll merely need to memorize two simple gestures to make use of it:
- Pressing volume down and then volume up moves you to the next track in a playlist
- Pressing volume up and then volume down moves you to the previous track in a playlist
Since the volume buttons are always easily accessible whether your handset is in your pocket or not, JumpSkip offers a viable go-between for all use case scenarios. Moreover, the tweak’s two-stage volume button gestures ensure that using the tweak won’t impact your volume level adjustments.
If you’re interested in downloading JumpSkip, then you can grab it for free from Cydia’s Packix repository. The tweak supports all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices and should work with all music apps.
