Essential Brings Back Newton Mail From the Dead

Newton Mail

Back in September last year, CloudMagic shut down Newton Mail because it was unable to compete with other similar email services that were better funded and the company was unable to chart a profitable course for itself. Soon after in December, Essential — the company founded by Android’s co-founder Andy Rubin — snapped up CloudMagic. Now, Newton Mail is being resurrected from the dead by Essential.

The company has once again made Newton Mail available for all popular platforms out there including iOS, Windows, macOS, and Android. What’s even better is that Essential is restoring the price of the email service back to $49.99/ year. There’s also a free 14-day trial for users who are on the fence on whether they should pay for the service or not.

CloudMagic, the company behind Newton mail, was acquired by Essential in December and we have been hard at work bringing Newton back to our community. Our vision, core team, and commitment to provide you with a space age email experience remain unchanged.

The apps are coming back with some new features as well, especially for the macOS app. The service has also gained integration with OmniFocus, Things, Bear, and 2doapp.

Former Newton users are definitely going to be excited about the email service being brought back from the dead. However, Essential’s future itself looks bleak so it remains to be seen how long Newton Mail manages to survive this time around.
