Apple’s Wearables, Home, and Accessories Category Rakes in $5.1 Billion in Revenue

One of the benchmarks of a popular device is how well it does outside of holiday shopping. And when it comes to the Apple Watch, the wearable just reached a major milestone.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri took questions and filled in some blanks during the earnings call today, following the latest quarterly report. One of the areas of interest, as usual, is how well Apple’s other categories and divisions are doing. For example, the Services division is doing very well for itself. And it turns out so is the Wearables, Home, and Accessories category.
Cook and Maestri confirmed that the category has reached an all-time new record high in revenue, coming in at $5.1 billion this quarter. That makes it the size of a Fortune 200 company all on its own, and Maestri said this is the best non-holiday quarter ever for the Apple Watch. When compared year-over-year, the Apple Watch saw its sales increase 50 percent.
What’s more, the pair of executives confirmed that three quarters of Apple Watch sales are to new customers. However, the nitty gritty details of that –like which model these new buyers are opting for– wasn’t divulged.
Apple announced its latest quarterly earnings report earlier today, coming in hot with $58 billion in total revenue.
