Last month, Apple quietly stopped selling the 21.5-inch LG 4K UltraFine display through its online store. There was no word from the company if it was going to release an alternative or customers were to just look for other alternatives. Now, LG and Apple have quietly started selling a new 23.7-inch UltraFine display.

For now, Apple seems to be selling this new 23.7-inch UltraFine display through its retail stores and there’s no word on when this monitor will make its way to the company’s online store. Despite the larger screen size, the new LG UltraFine monitor is going to retail at the same $700 price tag as the older one.

What’s interesting is that there are absolutely no details available about this new 23.7-inch monitor from LG on the internet. As reported by TidBits, even some Apple retail store employees are not aware of the product despite the monitor being in stock.

The original article claims that the monitor has a resolution of 3360 x 1890 which is less than 4K. However, the product manual claims that it has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz so it does qualify as a 4K monitor. But this is still lower than the previous 21.5-inch 4K UltraFine display which had a resolution of 4096 x 2304.

The monitor features two Thunderbolt 3 ports at the rear along with 3x USB-C ports which is more than what the 21.5-inch 4K monitor offered. It has the same minimalistic styling as the previous 4K and 5K monitors from LG. The company is also bundling a Thunderbolt 3 cable with the monitor which is a nice addition. This means MacBook and iPad Pro owners won’t have to scout for a Thunderbolt cable after getting the monitor.

It looks like until Apple gets around to launching its rumored 31.6-inch LED display, it is hoping to keep its customers content with this new 23.7-inch display from LG.
