The Electra Team published a surprise update for their iOS 12-centric Chimera jailbreak Sunday evening, officially bringing the tool up to version 1.0.8.
The announcement, shared just a few minutes ago via the Electra Team’s official Twitter account, denotes what appears to be a bug fix update that resolves a problem where the Sileo package manager’s app icon would disappear from the Home screen after jailbreaking with Chimera version 1.0.7:
From what we can gather, this is the only significant change in Chimera version 1.0.8.
Personally, I haven’t experienced an issue with the Sileo app icon disappearing from my Chimera test device’s Home screen yet. It’s possible that this may only happen on certain types of devices, or those with certain jailbreak extensions installed. I can only speculate at the time of this writing.
Installing Chimera v1.0.8 isn’t necessary unless you’ve experienced the Sileo-centric issue discussed above, but as a general rule of thumb, we always recommend playing things safe rather than sorry and running the latest version anyway. Chimera v1.0.8 is a free download from the official Chimera website.
If you aren’t already using Chimera, then we’d advise reading our tutorial about how it’s used before deploying it. Chimera can jailbreak any iOS 12.0-12.1.2 device, including the A12(X) variety.
