Apple should open the first Mexican flagship store in September as part of its Latin American retail push, joining the company’s existing smaller store in the country which opened in September 2016 at Mexico’s Centro upmarket Santa Fe mall.
The upcoming brick-and-mortar flagship retail store will be located in the Antara Fashion Hall at an upscale mall in Ciudad de Mexico’s Polanco district.
It will reportedly be three times the size of the regular boutique storefronts found in the mall’s Via Santa Fe wing. The store will be located between two of Mexico’s most renowned museums, the Museo Soumaya and Museo Jumex, AppleInsider has learned from a source.
Contracted crews completed the internal latticework that serves as a skeleton for the future store late last year. A large, flat roof with gently sloping overhangs was likewise installed over the past few months, a design element introduced with Apple’s Chicago flagship and later applied to modern outlets like the soon to open Apple Xinyi A13 location in Taiwan.
The publication published additional images of the construction.
The upcoming standalone structure will incorporate Apple’s latest retail design with the familiar features like, custom wooden cabinetry for accessories, wooden tables showcasing iOS devices and computers, a sales floor, a Genius Bar and more.
Similar to Xinyi A13, and most current standalone Apple stores, the Mexico City venue will boast a glass facade that doubles as an entryway thanks to large glass doors. Curved glass corner pieces round out an almost seamless glass-walled design.
The company committed to opening a flagship Latin American store in 2017.
Other rumors suggest that the iPhone maker could also establish retail presence beyond online sales and reseller channels in nearby countries such as Argentina, Chile and Peru.
