Notched iPhones, including the iPhone X, XR, XS, and XS Max, sport incredibly tall displays when compared with traditional non-notched handsets. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this can make accessing some of the handset’s features slightly uncomfortable when they appear near the top of the screen.
Apple provides a feature called Reachability to help with this problem, but many people leave it disabled because it’s easy to invoke by accident. With that in mind, if you’d like to make using the Camera app easier on notched handsets, then you just might come to appreciate a new free jailbreak tweak called CamControls X by iOS developer FoxfortMobile.
As you’ll see in the screenshot examples above, CamControls X makes one-handed usage of the Camera app a whole lot easier on taller displays because it moves some of the controls from the top of the app to the bottom.
In photography-based modes, this means relocating the flash, HDR, Live Photos, Timer, and Filter buttons to the bottom of the app. Conversely, video-based modes will have the flash, timer, and video quality selector moved to the bottom of the app.
CamControls X doesn’t come with any options to configure, and due to the tweak’s natural simplicity, options aren’t really necessary.
Those interested in trying CamControls X can download it for free from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak is compatible with all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices, but we’d like to reiterate that it works best on notched handsets such as those mentioned earlier in the article.
