Apple’s T2 chip has been a hassle for hackers and a security blessing for many consumers. However, not every piece of hardware or software is perfect. Apple is now releasing a supplemental update for certain Mac models, that is supposed to fix a “firmware issue”.

Not every update is as exciting like the iOS 13 update we are eagerly waiting for, however, they may be just as important. Following Apple’s macOS Mojave 10.14.5 release last week, the company is now issuing a new patch for certain of their PC models.

“The MacBook Pro Supplemental Update addresses a firmware issue affecting 15-inch MacBook Pro computers with T2 Security Chip, and is recommended for all users.”

The update seems to be related to security, as Apple’s security updates page notes. There has still been no word on what this patch actually includes or changes, only mentioned that it is “recommended for all users”.

Without speculating too much, unless you’re stuck on an older version of macOS for some personal or work-related reasons, updating your machine would be a good idea now to be on the safe side.
