One of the weakest links in iOS’ native multitasking capabilities is the clipboard management system, and perhaps unsurprisingly, there’ve been a lot of jailbreak tweaks released in recent memory to address this problem, such as CopyLog and Copypasta to name a few.
As for those who favor the classics over newer and more lightweight releases, Pasithea 2 by iOS developer Cannathea can provide a more full-fledged clipboard-access experience, and with native keyboard integration at that.
Pasithea has been available for a long time, but was just recently re-released on the Packix repository with official support for iOS 11 and 12, and this includes handsets of the A12(X) variety.
As shown in the screenshot examples above, Pasithea puts a new option in the globe button on your keyboard, and tapping on it reveals an interface filled with your most recent clipboard entries (text that you’ve either copied or cut). Tapping on an entry automatically enters it into any text field with your cursor in it.
In addition to using the keyboard-esque method, Pasithea 2 can be accessed from the native iOS Action Menu or from the Control Center shortcut. Either method invokes a running history of your clipboard, allowing you to access previously copied or cut text.
Once installed, Pasithea adds a preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure several options to your liking:
Here, you can:
- Enable or disable Pasithea 2 on demand
- Disable Pasithea 2 in certain applications
- Configure a maximum clipboard history limit
- Choose which native keyboard Pasithea will replace (for integration purposes)
- Skip the keyboard
- Limit the number of characters
- Swap the Delete key
- Enable notifications
- Enable a dark keyboard
- Configure keyboard sounds
- Configure a preferred search engine
- View your current clipboard history
- Automatically backup your data
- Restore from a backup
- Create a backup (manually)
- Delete existing backups
If, like me, you think that the native clipboard system in iOS leaves a lot to be desired, then you might want to give Pasithea 2 a try. It’s available for $2.00 from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo and now works with all jailbroken iOS 10-12.1.2 devices.
