iPhone XS Max Review

If you own an iPhone XS or iPhone XR or any other Apple device that’s powered by an A12-A12X chipset and are interested in jailbreaking it, here’s some bad news for you. While an iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 jailbreak is already in the works for these devices, Unc0ver jailbreak developer @pwn20wnd believes that it will be the last jailbreakable version of iOS for these devices for a very long time.

Apple has seemingly patched the PAC bypass used by the Unc0ver team to jailbreak iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 on A12-A12X Bionic devices.

While it is not going to be impossible to jailbreak A12 – A12X Bionic devices in the future, it does mean that the entire process is going to get even more difficult. Eventually, a talented security researcher and developer will find some exploit in iOS 12/iOS 13 that could be used to jailbreak A12-A12X Bionic devices but the entire process keeps getting difficult for them.

If you own an iPhone XS or iPhone XR running iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2, you should stick to it if you value your jailbreak. Given the tweet from @pwn20wnd, I don’t think we are going to see any iOS 12.2 jailbreak for A12 – A12X Bionic devices. And if you have already updated your iPhone XS or iPhone XR to iOS 12.2, well then enjoy the new features and bid the thought of jailbreaking your device adieu for the foreseeable future.
