Most would agree that the iPhone’s App Switcher interface leaves a lot of unused space for the taking, and while some have proposed making better use of that space with grid-centric switchers or App Switcher/Control Center hybrids, iOS developer CydiaGeek had a different idea: fill that space with bigger App Switcher cards.
Enter BigCards, a new free jailbreak tweak that increases the size of the App Switcher’s application cards such that they make better use of the excess empty space normally found in the app-switching interface.
Screenshot examples depicting the aesthetics before and after installing BigCards are displayed for your convenience above. Albeit seemingly insignificant at first glance, I can attest to the fact that BigCards feels a hair more natural in that it helps to fill the real estate better.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’d certainly prefer a tweak with a more utilitarian footprint such as NewGridSwitcher over BigCards, but if you don’t like the grid-based App Switcher concept, then BigCards is a halfway-decent alternative to making better use of that extra space.
BigCards doesn’t come with any options to configure out of the box, so what you see is ultimately what you get.
If you’re interested in trying the tweak out for yourself, then you can download it for free from CydiaGeek’s beta repository in Cydia. The tweak is said to be compatible with all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices.
