Apple is reportedly creating a team of strategists to create campaigns for major entertainment industry awards like Oscars and Emmys. Award strategists are the ones responsible to arrange screenings and other publicity events for Hollywood insiders who vote on movies and TV shows that win awards.
The Bloomberg report citing a source says that Apple could be in the running for Emmy awards as early as 2020.
The Cupertino, California-based technology giant is hiring strategists to help craft campaigns for entertainment industry awards, including Hollywood’s highest prizes like the Oscars and Emmys, the people said. They asked not to be identified discussing private plans. An Apple spokesman declined to comment.
Apple has been investing heavily in its video content and creation efforts. It is currently working on multiple projects which includes high-profile celebrities from the entertainment industry including Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and more. The company has also hired high-profile executives from the media industry to oversee production efforts. The Cupertino company currently has over a dozen shows in production for its upcoming TV streaming service.
Despite so many shows under production, none of them are expected to be available when Apple’s TV streaming platform launches. Instead, they are only expected to go live on the platform a few months later. As for the streaming platform itself, Apple is expected to unveil it at its ‘Show Time’ event on March 25 alongside its Apple News Magazines subscription service.
