While there are new iPads rumored to be launching soon, and attention is always paid to new iPhones landing near the end of the year, Apple has much more in the works.
For example, we have the subscription wave about to crash. Apple is working on launching a news subscription service, along with a TV and film streaming service for good measure. Both of those services are expected to be unveiled on March 25. AirPods 2 are in the works, too, with “Hey Siri” support. All that being said, it sounds like Apple has even more coming down the pike. At least, that’s the general gist from Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook.
Cook spoke to investors earlier today and, in typical fashion, was excited to discuss what’s happened and what’s still to come. Cook says the company is “rolling the dice” on new products that will “blow you away”. For instance, while Cook is teasing all this, he referenced AirPods and the Apple Watch, saying, “fantastic products” are on the way.
Cook says the company is also working on reducing the cost of the MacBook Air Retina, which was initially launched last year. Right now the thin laptop starts at $1,200, but there is no word on how much lower Apple is aiming.
As for the company’s Services division? Well, things are looking good:
“Speaking at the company’s annual general meeting in Cupertino, California, Cook reiterated that the iPhone maker is still on track to double revenue from services in 2020 from the nearly $25 billion in 2016. Referencing speaking notes on an iPad, Cook touched on several of the company’s product categories.”
As far as the rumor mill is concerned, there is quite a bit to be excited about. Apple’s continuing to work on Augmented Reality glasses. And Project Titan may see the launch of an electric van.
2019 seems like it is going to be an exciting year for Apple. Even just dropping the cost of the MacBook Air Retina would be a pretty big step in the right direction.
What are you looking forward to the most this year from Apple?
