Video: Apple Watch Gets Dipped in 24-Karat Gold

When Apple first launched the Apple Watch back in 2015, it positioned it as a fashion accessory. This also included launching the extremely expensive 18k gold Apple Watch Edition which costed tens of thousands of dollars. The poor sale ultimately led Apple to discontinue the Apple Watch Edition.

Apple does offer the Apple Watch Series 4 in gold color but the real deal is obviously better.

If you are a man of rich taste who still fancies a gold Apple Watch and don’t mind getting your hand dirty, check out the YouTube video below.

YouTuber Casey Neistat and JerryRigEverything teamed up to dip an Apple Watch Series 4 in pure 24-karat gold.

The process is not for the faint of heart and requires one to have access to a number of tools and machinery. The video shows the Apple Watch Series 4 going through a number of processes and treatment before being dipped in actual 24-karat gold. That’s important because the aluminium surface first needs to be treated properly and all its coating need to be stripped before the gold plating can be done.

Despite being dipped in 24-karat gold, the Apple Watch Edition was more premium and expensive because its exterior shell was made out of gold instead of the wearable being just gold plated.

Nonetheless, with the Apple Watch Series 4 packing a dual-core S4 chip and an edge-to-edge display, it is definitely going to age much better than the Apple Watch Edition. You can at least be rest assured that it is going to get software updates for another couple of years and its performance won’t slow down as much as the original Apple Watch.

So, if you really fancy a gold Apple Watch, you can consider putting your wearable through similar steps as shown in the video.
