A new augmented reality app is using the technology to provide an interesting and unique look at the Statue of Liberty.

A Unique Look at the Landmark

Released to celebrate the opening of the new Statue of Liberty Museum at the base of the landmark in New York, the app features a number of different unique AR experiences.

In the Torch Panorama, you can view New York Harbor and the statue all throughout the day and night.

The Making of Lady Liberty allows users to interact with an accurate 3D model of the statue. You can see how exposure to the elements caused the unique green parting and even look inside the statue itself.

Users can also view a life-size model of the statue’s left foot placed in front of you.

A 180-degree experience will also show you how Manhattan’s skyline has changed over the last 200 years from the statue’s crown.

The app also features a podcast, Raising the Torch, that includes first-person narratives and historian interviews that explore the landmark. There is also an audio tour and guided map in the app for the island’s visitors or anyone else.

Statue of Liberty is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models and can be downloaded for free. You’ll need to be running iOS 12 or later.
