Security Researcher Demoes iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2 Jailbreak with Cydia on iPhone XS Max

Security researcher Liang Chen from KeenLabs demoed an iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2 jailbreak at Infiltrate 2019. Unlike other jailbreak demos that we usually see, this one was a complete jailbreak with PAC and APRR bypass and Liang even shows Cydia running on his iPhone XS Max as proof.
Don’t get your hopes too high for a possible iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2 jailbreak being released anytime soon though. Chen is not going to release his jailbreak to the public. Instead, KeenLabs is likely going to sell this jailbreak to a third-party or inform about this to Apple and collect their reward. In the past as well, Keen Labs has demonstrated multiple exploits for iOS 12 which could have been used for a jailbreak.
Given the drama and stress that usually comes towards a developer who releases an iOS jailbreak, I’d say that’s a smart thing to do. On the positive side though, this does raise the possibility of an iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2 jailbreak seeing the light of the day.
Right now, iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 jailbreak is possible using either Chimera or Unc0ver, with the former supporting iPhone XS, iPhone XR as well. However, since Apple has stopped signing iOS 12.1.2 or lower, users who have already updated their iPhone/iPad to iOS 12.1.3 or higher are out of luck and need to wait for a jailbreak that supports iOS 12.1.3 or newer.
Are you hoping for a possible iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2 jailbreak release?
