Ever since Apple first debuted an OLED display on the iPhone X, users have been begging for a refreshed OLED-friendly Lock screen experience akin to what some might get when using competing Android handsets.

While Apple certainly hasn’t stepped up to the plate in this department, that hasn’t stopped the jailbreak community from doing what it does best. With that in mind, we’re excited to show you a new free jailbreak tweak release dubbed Lisa by iOS developerEsquilli.

As it would seem, Lisa is based entirely upon a popular /r/jailbreak request that called upon the jailbreak community’s talents to bring novel and innovative features to the iOS Lock screen. Among the things it can do for you are:

  • Display beautiful notifications on an OLED-friendly blacked out background
  • Configure what elements do and don’t appear in the notifications
  • Configure animations and tweak behavior
  • And much more…

After you install Lisa, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure it to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle the tweak on or off on demand
  • Customize the tweak’s behavior
  • Customize the tweak’s animations
  • Display test notifications to see what your current settings would look like
  • Reset all settings to their defaults

Since the tweak’s primary options are divided into two cells, we’ll outline them all for you below:

Customization

From the Customization cell, you can:

  • Use Lisa only when Do Not Disturb mode is enabled
  • Disable Face ID when Lisa is active
  • Reset the offset when media is playing
  • Hide the Status Bar
  • Hide the Lock screen time
  • Hide the padlock icon
  • Hide the quick actions
  • Hide XenHTML (if installed)
  • Hide Notepad
  • Hide Lock screen Control Center grabber
  • Enable a blurred background
  • Choose how many times you’ll need to tap the display to dismiss Lisa
  • Configure the background alpha
  • Configure the notifications’ vertical offset

Animations

From the Animations cell, you can:

  • Enable or disable dismissal animations
  • Configure the dismissal animation speed
  • Enable or disable vertical offset animations
  • Configure the vertical offset animation speed

The developer provides an Apply button at the top right of the preference pane that lets you save your settings. You should use this button whenever you make changes to ensure that they are appended to your device.

Personally, I love the OLED display panels that Apple uses in its latest flagships, and I’ve always wanted something like this out of the box because the true-black capabilities of the OLED display permit a smaller impact on battery life and less-intrusive notifications. That said, I can vouch for Lisa, but I would also advise Apple to implement something like this on stock iOS.

Lisa works on all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices, but the benefits of this tweak are best enjoyed on a device that is equipped with an OLED display, such as the iPhone X, Xs, or Xs Max.

If you’re interested in trying Lisa for yourself, then you can download it for free from Esquilli’s repository in Cydia or Sileo. If you aren’t already using his repository, then you can add it with the following URL:
