Apple Reportedly Acquires Italian Startup Stamplay

From time to time, Apple acquires companies. More often than not it’s a startup of some kind, rather than the giant acquisitions in the billions.
That is apparently the case with the latest pick-up. According to the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Apple has acquired the Italian startup known as Stamplay. The company is known for creating an API-based back-end development platform. At the time of publication, and, other than this report, the only other indication that Stamplay has been acquired is the fact its website has been basically stripped of information. That’s typically one move companies make after an acquisition by Apple, as noted today by MacRumors.
It’s also worth noting that Apple did not provide its standard, “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans” comment when prompted. That could suggest Apple hasn’t acquired Stamplay after all, but that another company swooped in and picked them up. It’s also possible Apple completed an acqui-hire, picking up Stamplay’s expertise and employees rather than the whole company itself.
Apple avrebbe acquisito l’italiana (emigrata in UK) Stamplay, startup che realizza app con “poco codice” (sito già svuotato e dipendenti a Cupertino. At this point, it’s not confirmed one way or another if Apple has picked up yet another company. If it has, though, it would be the second acquisition for the company this month. On March 14 it was reported that Apple had acquired Laserlike, which is a machine learning startup.
