Apple Announces New 10.5-inch iPad Air and new iPad mini 5 with Apple Pencil Support

Apple today announced the new 7th gen iPad with a 10.5-inch display and the iPad mini 5 with first-gen Apple Pencil support.

The new iPad Air features a 10.5-inch Retina Display and retains the same thin design as its predecessor. The display is 20 percent larger than the previous iPad and features a higher resolution display as well.

As for the 7.9-inch iPad mini 5, it features a new higher resolution Retina Display panel with True Tone support. It is also 25 percent brighter.

Both new iPads feature first generation Apple Pencil support.

Both new iPads feature an A12 Bionic chip that offers immense power. The new iPad Air offers a 70 percent performance boost over the previous iPad and 2x improvement in graphics performance.

The iPad mini 5 offers 3x more processing power and a staggering 9x times more powerful GPU.

The new iPad mini starts at $399 for the Wi-Fi variant, with the LTE version priced at $529. The new iPad Air starts from $499 and $629 for the Wi-Fi and LTE version, respectively. The new tablets go up for pre-order today and will hit the retail stores next week. Both tablets support Gigabit LTE.
