Alleged iPad mini 5 Case Leak Confirms Same External Design as iPad mini 4

Alleged photos of an iPad mini 5 TPU case confirm what rumors have been saying all along: there are no major external design differences when compared to the iPad mini 4.

The TPU case confirms that the iPad mini 5 is going to come with the same speaker two-speaker setup as the iPad mini 4. The same external design means the iPad mini 5 will retain the headphone jack, Lightning connector, and Touch ID.

With the iPad mini 5 retaining the same design as the iPad mini 4, it is clear that this update is going to be all about internal changes. Since the iPad mini 5 is expected to carry a relatively low price tag, don’t expect Apple to include power internals in the iPad mini 5. My bet is that we are looking at an A10 chip which might not be that powerful as the A11 Bionic or A12 Bionic found inside the 2018 iPad Pro but should still offer a notable performance improvement over the A8 chip found inside the iPad mini 4.

The iPad mini 5 is expected to carry a $249 price tag. It is expected to go on sale soon after Apple’s “It’s Show Time’ event on March 25. Alongside the iPad mini 5, Apple will also unveil the 2018 iPad, AirPods 2, and AirPower at the event. The company might not talk about any of its hardware devices at the event since it is going to focus primarily on its TV streaming service and Apple News Magazines service. However, these devices should go up for pre-order or on sale right after the event.
